Michael contacted me because he was interested in an updated headshot. He was looking for fresh and new rather than the typical corporate shot. With natural light and a brick fireplace, we were able to get his blue eyes to be the main attraction! Check it out!

Michael’s job requires business and social networking, so keeping it fresh and a little different helps potential customers remember you!

The beautiful New Jersey weather reminds me of a song I love by Lee Amos called Windows are Rolled Down. When I took this image I was thinking about it and also thought about the meaning of looking at where you’ve been. Do you focus on what is behind you? Let’s look ahead!

Bobi was the first to be photographed on my new background. I love the colors and I love the way her headshot will stand out from the rest. Bobi has been a super supporter of SLR Photography. Happy Birthday Grandma!

Grandma was all smiles with all her grandchildren dressed up and ready for their portrait. That was all she wanted for her birthday.

I really enjoyed meeting the family, trying to quickly learn all the kid’s names and do anything to bring in the smiles. I am pretty sure one of the dads was doing something crazy just over my head at this moment. Let’s take a closer look at some of the kids -

And my favorite one for last! The crazy photo. I do one of these family crazy photos with my family every Christmas. Even the littlest one - Lindsay - knew what to do!

It was so nice meeting such a wonderful family and Happy Birthday Grandma!!

Mexico 2012

I was fortunate to spend a relaxing week in Mexico with my cousin and his family. Our biggest decision of the day was when to switch from coffee (which was terrific!) to margaritas (also terrific!). My favorite image of the trip is this first one - Sara and Myla sharing a special moment.

2011 Favorites

I know it’s February. Just catching up? I have not been the best at updating my blog, but here I go for 2012. Before I start, I wanted to share some of my favorite times from 2011.

As usual, I enjoyed all the kids - meeting new ones and watching families grow through the years.

I enjoyed meeting families at their homes and my favorite parks -

I also love when photography gives me a great reason to visit old friends. Here are the children of one of my college friends -

I really had fun at the beach this summer - something about the sand and ocean that bring out natural smiles!

I love photographing adults for their professional portraits. I like to call them lifestyle portraits because I work hard to bring out the personality and making people look their best -

I love this shot - an outtake? So natural and funny!

Last but not least - I can not forget the dogs. It is always a challenge when I family arrives with their dog. I do swear that they smile at me…and sometimes they even bowl me over. They can be shy or not interested, but always, always cute!

Onward to a new year - filled with adventures and capturing every moment I can!

Professional portraits aren’t what they used to be. With the use of LinkedIn, Facebook and other social media sites, it is more important than ever to really have an image that portrays you and your personality. Most adults don’t like their photo taken and my response is “Well, you haven’t had me take your photo”. I am trying to be funny, but my goal is always to have my clients love their image!

Meg needed a professional photo - and I feel like we captured her gentle nature. The only thing I wasn’t able to include was her Southern accent..

When I met Meg, I knew I had to show off her beautiful blue eyes! Good luck Meg!

Cara - what a cutie!

Cara’s grandmother brought Cara into my studio last week. She wanted to match her big brother’s photo taken when he was the same age, with the same background, and the same chair. Luckily..all came together and here she is!

I was a little concerned before she came in. I am friends with her mother on Facebook and from the time she was a baby, I heard about how she doesn’t sleep..how she cries….

Sorry, Mom. Not sure I am believing you. She was a beautiful angel for her photos. Maybe just point a camera at her!!

Watch them Grow

I know that I have said this many times in my blog, but here it is again…

One of the many things I love about my business is the absolute gift I receive in watching children grow. I arrived at the McIntyre’s to celebrate the 2nd birthday of her twins - Chase and Tyler and the 5th birthday of their daughter Maison. Maison is my website cover girl since she was two.

Here were the boys 2 years ago when they were less than a month old -

And here they are now -

Just unbelievable! Here they are alone and with their ever-proud big sister.

Maison has grown to be such a cutie. And her Mom can still bring out the best smiles.

Looking forward to many more years watching them grow!

Congratulations to Morgan & Dave!

I had a fantastic day last Sunday on the boardwalk in Asbury Park photographing Morgan and Dave’s engagement portraits. Everything was perfect, the weather, the location and mostly the couple. What I noticed about Morgan and Dave was not the way they were when I was pointing the camera at them, but the way they were when I wasn’t. They are so kind to each other. Very kind.
